“A SINGING star gave excited schoolchildren an exclusive live preview of his latest single.

Singer-songwriter Jay Sean visited Gearies Junior School, Gantshill Crescent, Gants Hill, to give them the lowdown on his career and to answer some tricky questions.

The music sensation sang Tonight to the school’s 350 children, spoke to them about having a career in music, and told them it was no bad thing to have a job in a creative field.

Questions thrown at him included: Do you have a mansion? Why did you give up a career in medicine? What car do you drive? And, oddly, how many wrestlers do you know?

The 27-year-old pop star impressed teachers by holding the youngsters’ attention throughout his one-hour visit.

Headteacher Anupe Hanch said: “He was really interacting with the children and there’s been a fantastic response from everyone. It went extremely well.

“Everyone loved having him here, particularly the staff. They were taking pictures on their mobile phones!”

Jay also delivered some posters and calendars, some of which the school hope to sell in a raffle to boost school funds.”
